What is the meaning of Christmas?
Is it a pile of brightly-colored packages delicately prepared and thoughtfully chosen for loved ones?
The radio keeps blasting ideas about love. Sharing love, reminding of love etc (a sneaking marketing move that hits many in the heart).
I too like to give, make and exchange presents, but that's not why "Christmas" was set aside as a holiday. So before I post reasoning, do I have any takers who will offer up their ideas/beliefs/whathaveyou about why Christmas is such a celebrated occasion?

Friday started very early for me... awaking just before 3:30 I realized that a headache would follow if I didn't sleep more, but ideas and ambitions moved me out of bed. I've now got a poppy seed coffee cake baking in the oven.
Meanwhile I'm editing photos, quieting cats and making christmas ornaments!

Today is Thursday- a point in the week where I am tired and excited and exhilarated at once!
This week especially has held so much promise that answers pop up very often with questions floating all around.

Holiday Indoor Snows
Tis the day after Black Friday... a day on which I hid- save for an afternoon interview.
Today my husband and I crept out to run errands... fearing frightful auto situations downtown. It wasn't too bad... adding in lunch we were back home in a couple hours. Here are some fun sightings from downtown Indianapolis... including Santa on a motorcycle!

Trains, growling & bird chirps
It's almost 7 a.m. And I'm hearing a second train since 6:15. The birds were just chirping like it was springtime again.
If they could, I know my cats would enjoy finding and chasing those birds. Aristasia has a lot of practice in that area, but Havoc has more experience trying to catch flies or the light from my husbands laser pointer.
These noises can frustrate me if I'm trying to sleep, but I've been learning to put up with them better. Whenever I am upset because something isn't going right, I always need to remember that I'm in a much better place than some. It's heartbreaking to hear about some of these struggles- or even to see them on the city streets.
Today I was reading in James, "9Let the lowly brother boast in his exaltation,
10 and the rich in his humiliation, because like a flower of the grass he will pass away.
11 For the sun rises with its scorching heat and withers the grass; its flower falls, and its beauty perishes. So also will the rich man fade away in the midst of his pursuits.
12 Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.
13 Let no one say when he is tempted, "I am being tempted by God," for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempts no one.
14 But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire.
15 Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death.
16 Do not be deceived, my beloved brothers.
17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.
18 Of his own will he brought us forth by the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.
19 Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger;
20 for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God.
21 Therefore put away all filthiness and rampant wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.
22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.
23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror.
24 For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like.
25 But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.
26 If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person's religion is worthless.
27 Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world."

Labor Day Sunday Laziness
Despite a crazy week last week, with a few surprises included, tis a lazy Sunday. Kitten flops everywhere. Havoc slept anywhere warm and inactive last night during dinner with a friend. Even now he is splayed out next to me.

A drop off Friday...
Coffee.
How many people kickstart their day with that delicious (or not) energy?
I for one have started sleepy from either a short nights sleep, or a very interrupted one, and turned to coffee for energy.

What a wild target
Tonight the city is covered with the calming, cooling raindrops. We turned this evening into a ronantic one as soon as my husband arrived home from work. First up- mamosas!
We went out for groceries later after dinner and our two month old little Havoc cuddled in my purse.
